Several metro Detroit law firms placed among the best in the Midwest on Vault.com’s survey of law firm associates.
Detroit-based Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP led Southeast Michigan firms, placing eighth on the New York-based career site’s list. Honigman was unranked last year.
Pushing Honigman up the list was the firm’s automatic $5,000 bonus for new associates, interest-free home loans, paid indoor parking and Friday afternoon cocktail parties, according to the survey.
Detroit-based Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone plc tied for 11th in the Midwest.
According to the survey, associates said Miller Canfield offers associates a high level of responsibility and on-site parking, pays bar membership dues and subsidizes cell phone and gym expenses. A lack of training is cited as a “downer” for the firm.
