West Bloomfield Township— A 17-year-old boy whose grandmother is charged with shooting him to death had substances in his urine linked to the synthetic drug Spice, or K2, an Oakland County medical examiner said Monday.
Toxicology tests revealed the substances’ presence in the body of Jonathan Hoffman, said Reuben Ortiz-Reyes, an assistant medical examiner.
Initial blood tests did not reveal the presence of drugs in Hoffman’s system. Sandra Layne, 74, is charged with open murder and felony firearm in her grandson’s death May 18 at her condominium.

Ms. Layne needs another trial. After watching the late night news(3/19/13), and viewing the called parents of Jonathon making their caustic remarks in regard to Sandra….it all became very
clear to me that they were not so much grieving the loss of their son as they were suddenly relieved last year of any parental responsibility. Instead of being so deprecating in their comments they should have been thankful that a 74 year -old woman was gracious enough to take their troubled teen into her home. “I never liked her ” commented the son -in -law……
But she was good enough to watch your only son……..Really?’?'!
